Oct 01, 2024 A dark field microscope is a specialized type of microscope that is used to observe samples that are difficult to see under normal bright field illumination. It works by illuminating the sample with a cone of light that enters the objective lens at an oblique angle, producing a dark background around the specimen. This makes the specimen appear bright against a dark background, enhancing its contrast and making it easier to observe.
In a dark field microscope, a special condenser lens is used to produce the cone of light that illuminates the sample. The light is reflected off the edges of the condenser lens and enters the objective lens at an oblique angle, causing it to scatter in all directions. This produces a cone of light that surrounds the sample, creating a dark background that makes the specimen stand out. Dark field microscopy is commonly used to observe living cells, bacteria, and other small organisms that are difficult to see with conventional bright field microscopy. It can also be used to observe small particles, such as dust, pollen, and other environmental samples
Our customer from Brazil requested a high quality dark field microscope which can view sharp & clear images of blood cells under dark field function.
Usually, the strong transmit light will make the background of dark field image more black, so cells can be show more clear. After several testing, our engineer decided to make a special dark field condenser with high brightness flat LED light source combained to the bottom, instead of normal transmit bottom light source. This LED will give super bright illumination to make a very dark background. Worked with professional dark field objective 100x, it will also get good 100x dark field image.
  We got a few drops of fresh human blood sample, made a fresh blood slide, put it on A10.2602 dark field microscope.
