Metallurgical Microscope is a compound microscope, specifically used in industrial settings to view samples at high magnification (such as metals) that will not allow light to pass through them. It may have transmitted and reflected light, or just reflected light. The reflected light shines down through the objective lens. Metallurgical inverted microscopes are used to view metal or solid objects that don't allow light to pass through them and are too large to place under an upright metallurgical microscope. Metallurgical microscopes may also utilize darkfield, phase contrast, or DIC funciton to get view of special specimen. |
